Summer Employment

The AAP @ Wesleyan Summer Program is designed to improve the ability of students to find, be accepted to and succeed at the college of their choice. This intensive summer program is held on the Wesleyan University campus. SAT and TOEFL iBT test preparation, application essay writing instruction and admissions interview preparation are the core subjects covered during the program. The program is heavily attended by international students and is structured as two 4?week sessions. Three weeks of each session take place on campus with the final week taken up by a separately staffed week of college tours. All AAP staff work closely with students to create a memorable summer of learning within a structured introduction to college life.

Proctor Practice Tests and Study Halls

Score and evaluate student homework assignments

Respond to student emails and questions each evening

Work closely with curriculum development team to tailor course material for each class


AAP @ Wesleyan TOEFL Prep Instructor

Lead groups of 4 – 12 students through AAP @ Wesleyan TOEFL Course (2 three?week sessions)

Proctor Practice Tests and Study Hall

Score and evaluate student homework assignments

Respond to student emails and questions each evening

Work closely with curriculum development team to tailor course material for each class


AAP @ Wesleyan Summer Admissions Specialist

Meet with students in small groups and one-on-one to discuss college admissions essay drafts

Conduct interview skills seminars

Conduct mock interviews and provide student feedback


AAP @ Wesleyan Resident Counselor

Guide groups and individual students in participating successfully in all aspects of the AAP program

Reside in dormitory and actively participate in on-campus as well as off-campus recreation and social activities for students

Prepare for and actively participate in staff training, meetings, and supervisory conferences

Serve as a beneficial model to participants

Supervise all assigned aspects of the students' day including wakeup, dorm room cleanup, meal times, evening activities, and after?hours duty as assigned

Maintain good public relations with the Wesleyan University community

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree from a top tier university or current enrollment at Wesleyan with B+ average

Top SAT scores

Ability to think quickly on your feet

Superb command of the English language*

Superb command of high school math course material through Algebra II*

Upbeat personality

Standardized test teaching experience, or other teaching or tutoring experience, is preferred

Successfully complete online and live training beginning in March

* We will be hiring a limited number of Verbal Specialists and Math Specialists, but proficiency in both areas is preferred

Job Description:

Encourage respect for personal property, AAP equipment, and university facilities

Maintain good public relations with the Wesleyan University community

Must live in Wesleyan dormitory accommodations in shared double room
